Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.
The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.
Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy's most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.
When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station's wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.
But relax. They've totally got this. They hope.
Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling readers into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.

You probably know by now that I love audiobooks. When I first started to listen to them a few years ago, I thought audiobooks were kind of dumb, a ‘cheating’ way to read, and it was really hard to concentrate on the story without getting distracting. Now, I listen to more audiobooks than I actually read books and I can’t get enough of them. I love good narrators, I love finding new narrators and listening to old favorites, I love being able to ‘feel’ and experience a story come to life through the audiobook performance and I love how much better audiobooks are getting. Out of the 200+ audiobooks I have listened to, The Illuminae series Audiobooks are by far the best audiobooks I’ve heard!
I was blown away by the audio for Illuminae and was convinced nothing could top that, Gemina proved me wrong. For those of you that don’t know, this audiobook production goes above and beyond what most audiobooks usually do. We have a full cast, which that in itself is freaking amazing. We also have narrators assigned to their own characters, so for example, Hanna’s parts are always read by one narrator, Nik’s parts are read by another narrator and so on for all the characters. Pretty cool, right? What’s even better is that every single narrator was amazing and a perfect fit to the characters they narrated. These narrators don’t just read their parts, they bring their characters to life with their expressions and performances. Imagine hearing a movie and that’s what you get, complete with sound effects, battle sounds, sound bites and even music.
I’m sure most of you have at lest read one review for Gemina, so I’ll refrain from gushing about how action packed and addicting the book is and just tell you all about how amazing the audiobook is instead. These audiobooks have spoiled me, I wish all audiobooks put so much effort into their productions like this. After listening to Illunimae, I knew there was no way I would be able to continue the series any other way. Even though I had an early copy of Gemina, I waited until I was able to listen to the audiobook and I wasn’t disappointed. I recommend these audiobooks for all fans of audiobook AND for anyone who has ever been curious about wanting to try an audiobook. Like with Illuminae, because of the unique format of this book, I was weary about how this would translate on audio. Turns out I didn’t have to worry at all because it feels like the book was written in that format specifically for the audiobook. It just works and I give major props to everyone involved in this production. I know I will be listening to the next book on audio and I hope we get more audiobooks like this.
